This session will define and discuss inflammaging - the chronic, low-grade inflammation that accompanies aging, and its role in the development and progression of rheumatic diseases. Mechanisms driving age-related immune dysfunction, their role in progression of rheumatic diseases, as well as a novel mechanisms to regulate macrophage function in rheumatic disease will be discussed.
