Physicians in practice learn more effectively by focusing on a patient's specific case or problem. In this interactive session, interdisciplinary experts will present two cases illustrating key challenges in the medical and surgical management of children and youth with localized scleroderma. This will be followed by a robust peer discussion on the best way to manage the case and a review of relevant evidence and state-of-the-art medical and surgical management of this condition.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the spectrum of "below the skin" involvement in linear scleroderma, such as deep fascia, muscle, joint, limb growth, brain, and ophthalmologic and dental/orthodontic issues
  • Recognize the medical options to manage linear scleroderma when first-line treatment fails and discuss the pros and cons of those options
  • Recognize the surgical options available to improve the quality of life of children and youth with linear scleroderma and the appropriate time to refer for a surgical opinion
