Inflammatory bone loss is a signature feature and severe consequence of many inflammatory disorders, including inflammatory arthritis. The underlying mechanisms of bone resorption and metabolism in inflammatory settings are largely unknown. This session will highlight novel discoveries in inflammatory bone resorption.
Dr. George Hajishengallis will discuss how the clonal hematopoiesis driven by mutated DNMT3A promotes inflammatory bone loss. Dr. Yousef Abu-Amer will discuss how DNA hypomethylation ameliorates erosive inflammatory arthritis by modulating interferon regulatory factor-8.
