Over the past five years, 35-50% of pediatric rheumatology fellowship positions have remained unfilled in the NRMP match, highlighting a critical need to increase exposure to the field among medical students and pediatric residents to foster greater interest in this career path. Starting in July 2025, the ACGME will require extended subspecialty outpatient experiences and individualized curricula for pediatric residents, offering an opportunity to boost engagement.
