Dr. Nurieva, Professor in the Department of Immunology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She has extensive knowledge in the field of immunology, especially in CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell mediated immune responses and conducted research that is aimed to understand how abnormal immune regulation leads to inflammation, autoimmunity, and cancer. Dr. Nurieva’s work has demonstrated the signaling mechanisms that controlled the T cell fate between activation and tolerance. She has identified new T helper (Th) lineages, including Th17 and T follicular helper (Tfh) cells, and determined the transcriptional requirement for their development and function in inflammation and cancer. Over the past 4 years, she has developed a research program unveiling immunobiology of immune-related adverse events in cancer patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors.
