Julie Paik, MD, MHS

Dr. Julie J. Paik is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is the Co-Director of the Johns Hopkins Myositis Center and also acts as the Director of Clinical Trials at the Johns Hopkins Myositis Center. Her areas of research focus are in novel therapeutics in myositis, overlap myositis with scleroderma, and myocarditis in myositis.

Dr. Paik served as the principal investigator of the first proof of concept clinical trial of tofacitinib in adult dermatomyositis (STIR) that has led to further studies in the use of JAK inhibitors in the treatment of dermatomyositis.

Dr. Paik is also serves as the principal investigator of a large multi-investigator funded UM1 NIAID Hopkins Autoimmunity Center of Excellence.

She is also dedicated to patient advocacy and education in myositis and serves as the Vice-Chair of the TMA (The Myositis Association) Medical Advisory Board.
