Dr. Eleni Tiniakou is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at University of Texas Health Science Houston, McGovern Medical School. She earned her medical degree from the Medical School at the University of Athens in Greece. She completed both her internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the Bridgeport Hospital/Yale University Program and stayed for another year to serve as the Chief Resident and worked at the Kriegel at the Immunobiology Department of Yale University. Subsequently, she pursued a post-doctoral fellowship training in Rheumatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where she continued as instructor and assistant professor. Her main research interest is autoantigen-specific T cells and autoantigen processing in scleroderma and myositis. The remainder of her academic time is allocated exclusively for care of patients with idiopathic inflammatory myositis.
