Elaine W. Yu, MD, MMSc is Associate Professor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and a board-certified Endocrinologist in the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Endocrine Unit, and where she serves as the Director of the MGH Bone Density Center. She is an NIH-funded physician-researcher, Associate Investigator with the MGH Clinical Translational and Epidemiology Unit, and Chen Institute MGH Research Scholar. Dr. Yu has clinical interests in bone and mineral disorders, and is the Principal Investigator of research studies investigating the pathophysiology and treatment of skeletal fragility due to bariatric surgery and diabetes, as well as examining health disparities in osteoporosis. She serves in leadership roles for the Endocrine Society and the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) and is currently Chair of the ASBMR Professional Practice Committee. Dr. Yu’s passion is to advance a bone and metabolism research program focused on rigorous scientific principles and team science, and to promote clinical excellence and equity in osteoporosis care.
