My research program focuses on elucidating the epigenetic contribution to the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, with a specific focus on the vascular complications in systemic sclerosis (scleroderma, SSc). By applying unbiased-epigenomics and bioinformatics methodologies, followed by functional studies to identify relevant pathways and targets pertinent to the disease, my ultimate goal is to identify epigenetic markers that define SSc pathogenesis and progression, patient heterogeneity, and response to therapy.
