Michael Kaplan MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is deeply grateful to practice medicine, general rheumatology, and teach in undergraduate and graduate medical spaces. His primary clinical interests include medical humanism and clinical reasoning, fibromyalgia, and interstitial lung disease (ILD). He writes widely on fibromyalgia, and has a long standing interest in vestibulocortical stimulation (caloric test of the external ear) as a potential therapeutic adjuvant for nociplastic disease. He co-directs a joint rheumatology-pulmonology clinic at his institution and has received multiple teaching awards, including the 2025 Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award. Outside of work, he can be found chasing his 5 and 3 year old around the parks of Morningside Heights. He is psyched to be here at ACR 2025 and is eager to collaborate and learn with you all.
