Edmund MacLaughlin, MD

Dr. Edmund MacLaughlin received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the Pennsylvania State University and his medical degree from the University of Maryland. His medical residency was at the Washington Hospital Center where he was co-chief medical resident. His rheumatology fellowship was at the University of Missouri.

He established a rheumatology practice on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the 1980’s, where his family has lived since the 1600’s. The practice has grown to two locations, seven providers and over thirty employees.

He has published research on osteoarthritis of the knee and hand, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis and continues active research in osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease.

He is on the Board of Directors of the American Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates, the largest organization of rheumatologists in the United States. He is a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and is a certified clinical densitometrist.
