Jin Xuan (Susan) Zhou is a third-year undergraduate student studying Health Sciences at Queen's University. She is currently a research trainee completing her undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Knight in the Neurosciences and Mental Health Research Institute at The Hospital for Sick Children. She is passionate about improving the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune diseases like lupus. Her research focused on understanding the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE) disease outcomes, particularly patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). With an avid interest in neuroscience and translational medicine, she is excited to continue working in the Knight Lab to investigate brain inflammation, neuroimaging, and cognitive outcomes in SLE. She has been awarded the 2025 Gina M. Finzi Fellowship to work on this research. She also serves as a national youth advisor at the Canadian Centre for Addiction and Mental Heath and is Editor-in-Chief of the Queen's Undergraduate Health Sciences Journal
