Myositis Support and Understanding
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States
Kyanna Johnson is a dedicated medical student at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM), with a strong foundation in public health and biomedical studies. She earned a Master of Public Health from University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Arts in Biomedical Studies from Chatham University. Her journey in healthcare is shaped by her passion for outreach, research, and mentorship. As the founder of Key to Public Health, LLC, she has contributed to public health through grant writing, program design, and health education.
Her lived experience with dermatomyositis transformed her mission. Navigating a delayed diagnosis and advocating for her care deepened her desire to ensure patients, especially those from underrepresented communities, are heard and supported. This led to her role as Director of Public Health and Policy at Myositis Support and Understanding, where she advances rare disease advocacy, policy, and provider education, while also collaborating on patient-centered research.
Passionate about bridging the gap between medicine and public health, she is committed to expanding access to quality healthcare for the most vulnerable. Her research interests span reproductive health, chronic disease, and patient advocacy, and she continues to fight for visibility and equity for the myositis community.
