Dr. Kawai works in the area of inflammation and inflammatory disorders with a particular focus on genetics and the safety and efficacy of drugs. Her research focuses on how genetic variability affects complex traits with a strong inflammatory component in the presence and absence of drugs and other environmental factors using large datasets such biobanks linked to electronic health record, as well as publicly available omics datasets.
