Alex D. Luta, M.D., is an Adult Rheumatology fellow at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan, where he serves as a Co-Chief Fellow. Dr. Luta also sees patients at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center through the rheumatology inpatient consult service. He is the current Fellow-at-Large Member of the Board of Directors of the Coalition of State Rheumatology Organizations. Dr. Luta graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Government from Georgetown University, where he remained to complete his Doctor of Medicine degree with distinction in healthcare leadership. He finished a residency in Internal Medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, where he was selected as a Chief Resident and as a resident member of the MedStar Health Physician Leadership Council. During his time as Chief Resident, Dr. Luta worked as a teaching hospitalist at the Washington, DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center and as a precepting internist at Virginia Hospital Center. His research interests include systemic sclerosis and antiphospholipid syndrome.
