Stanford Health Care
Palo Alto, CA, United States
Dr. Michelle Benjamin is a rheumatology fellow at Stanford University with a passion for improving care for patients navigating the transition from pediatric to adult rheumatology. A proud native of Antigua, she completed her undergraduate degree in Biology in Miami, Florida, before returning home to earn her medical degree from the American University of Antigua. She went on to complete her combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency at Louisiana State University, where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Benjamin’s clinical and research interests include transition of care, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and lupus; particularly in underserved and underrepresented communities. Her interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound stems in part from its value as a cost-effective, portable diagnostic tool in settings where advanced imaging is less accessible. She is committed to strengthening rheumatology care both locally and globally; through direct patient care, community-based teaching, and collaboration with primary care physicians and other health professionals to build strong, team-based care models.
An active member of the Association of Women in Rheumatology, Dr. Benjamin regularly engages in community outreach and patient advocacy. Her current research reflects her commitment to bridging care gaps and fostering equity in rheumatology. Looking ahead, she aims to combine clinical practice, education, and advocacy to advance high-quality rheumatology care in diverse communities.
