Cécile Gaujoux-Viala is Professor of Rheumatology at Nîmes University Hospital and the University of Montpellier, France since 2015. She is also Head of the Department of Rheumatology since 2014 and Head of the Scientific Committee at Nîmes University Hospital since 2016.
Professor Gaujoux-Viala has authored more than 90 research articles. Her primary areas of interest include treatment outcomes and epidemiological research in chronic inflammatory rheumatism, particularly outcome measures such as cost–utility analysis in clinical trials and real-world practice. Professor Gaujoux-Viala’s other areas of interests include the management of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, and patient adherence.
Since 2020, professor Gaujoux-Viala is a member of the management board of the Montpellier–Nîmes Faculty of Medicine, and is Head of the Nîmes rheumatology research team at the Desbrest Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health (IDESP) at the University of Montpellier. In 2021, Professor Gaujoux-Viala was also elected to the National University Council of Rheumatology.
