Joyce S Hui‐Yuen, MD MSc FACR FAAP, is a board‐certified pediatric rheumatologist and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Cohen Children’s Medical Center, Northwell Health System in New York. She completed pediatric residency at Stony Brook University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr Hui‐Yuen is a clinician‐scientist whose primary research is focused on environmental effects on the genomes of children, adolescents, and young adults with systemic lupus. In particular, she is investigating the changes in regulation of gene expression brought about by environmental factors pre‐ and post‐treatment with immunosuppressive medication. Her research has been funded in the past by the National Institutes of Health, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and private foundation grants. She currently holds funding from both the American College of Rheumatology‐Rheumatology Research Foundation and the Arthritis Foundation through the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance.
